Beatrice Roßbach, specialist in general medicine, qualified biologist
I grew up in a large family in Fulda in East Hesse. I actually wanted to be a doctor as a child, but then developed other plans after leaving school. My studies in biology took me via Marburg to Hamburg. After graduating, I worked for several years as a freelancer on various ecological projects and in adult education. I have been a convinced “Altonaerin” since 1988. Only here, in the immediate vicinity of the Elbe and surrounded by the great diversity of people from all countries of origin, religions, cultures and lifestyles, do I feel really at home.
I later began studying medicine at the University of Hamburg. My previous knowledge as a biologist helped me a lot. During my studies, I was able to gain experience in various medical facilities. In 2014, I took over the practice in Schillerstraße in the heart of Altona, which has been in existence for more than 50 years, from my training doctor Mr Bernd Uwe Krug.
When dealing with patients at my practice, it is a matter of course for me that we speak openly and as equals and treat each other with respect. My guiding principle for the practice is to support those seeking advice in all situations with sound GP care and advice in understandable language. All of this is only possible in close collaboration with my fantastic practice team. Cohesion and an open and fearless error culture throughout the team are very important to me. I also feel a grateful bond with former members of the practice.
Despite all the challenges that the healthcare system presents me with as a practice owner, I really enjoy working as a GP. I am involved in the Hamburg Association of General Practitioners and the Hamburg Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians in order to maintain and improve low-threshold medical care.
